Saillant was declared bankrupt at the beginning of January. Despite good occupancy rates, the financial structure proved insufficiently future-proof after the coronavirus period.
ECLECT sees clear potential in the three hotels and is committed to their continuation and further development, while retaining their unique character, local identity and the people who run the hotels on a daily basis.
The relaunch fits within ECLECT's broader vision to organise independent boutique hotels in a future-proof manner.
Not through uniform chain formation, but through collaboration, knowledge sharing and professional support, whereby the entrepreneurship and unique identity of each location remain central.
According to Dennie Frits, CEO of ECLECT, connectedness is essential in this regard:
“These hotels have a strong individual identity and are deeply rooted in their surroundings. We believe that you can only maintain that strength by working with people who feel connected to the place, the team and the guests.
Our role is to provide structure and support so that connection can also be maintained in the long term.”
For the further development of the locations, ECLECT works together with involved partners per hotel on the daily operations and the long-term direction of the location.
In doing so, an explicit choice is made for cooperation based on shared values, responsibility and entrepreneurship, rather than on traditional management or supply chain structures.
The hotels will not be continued under the Saillant name.
In the coming period, each location will be assessed to see how the existing boutique DNA can be further strengthened, whilst respecting the history, surroundings and unique signature of each hotel.
ECLECT collaborates with multiple boutique hotels in the Netherlands and Belgium according to this organisational model and recently expanded its activities to include hotels in Delft, amongst other places.
The relaunch of the three South Limburg hotels marks a next step in ECLECT's ambition to connect and strengthen exceptional hotels, enabling them to continue operating independently, distinctively and sustainably for the future.
